Siding Repair and Replacement
The section of wall below a gutter that's been overflowing repaired or replaced once the water problem above it is actually fixed.

Where the water shows on the wall
When a gutter overflows season after season, the water doesn't stop at the trough. It runs down the face of the house, and on a Springfield lot with lap siding that means streaking, swelling at the lap joints, and courses that have started to pull loose or cup along the bottom edge, usually right below wherever the gutter has been spilling over.
It shows up first on the wall directly under the worst section of the run, not evenly across the house, which is usually the giveaway that the siding damage is coming from above rather than from the ground up.

Fix the cause, then the wall
We don't repair or replace a section of siding without first correcting whatever's been sending water down that wall. If the gutter above it is undersized, back-pitched, or the fascia behind it has failed, fixing the wall first just buys the same repair again in a year or two.
Once the roof-edge work is done, the affected siding gets addressed on its own terms: the damaged courses cut out and replaced, fasteners set properly, and the section brought back in line with what's around it. Chapter 03
One trip up the ladder, not two
Gutter, fascia and the wall below it are all reached from the same ladder position, so when the roof-edge work calls for scaffolding or an extension ladder against that section of the house, it makes sense to look at the siding underneath at the same time rather than scheduling a separate visit later.
